Restricting Google Sites Access

How would you respond to this request?

Does anyone have a way to password protect a Google Site page? Our music teacher wants to share music, but respect copyright laws. I would recommend Classroom, but she has 700 students, so that would be tedious…she wants the site to be open, but 1 page to be protected.

Some of the responses I saw to this question, which appeared on Facebook, included the following:

  • lock the whole Sites website down
  • use Google Classroom
  • Put sheet music in a Google Drive folder, then share it using Remind

One approach I did NOT see but that would be fun to try is Google Forms.

HYPOTHETICAL

Here’s how I imagine it might work:

Step 1 - Setup a front page or Google Sites page.

Step 2 - Create a Form following the instructions online here (image below is taken from that site):

Step 3 - Put the link to the sheet music in the second part of the Google Form.

Why wouldn’t that work?
