Lost in Space, er, I mean,Texas

One of my favorite movies of all time—I don’t know why—is Lost in Space. I keep hoping they’ll make a sequel or three, but it’s unlikely. Makes me wish that movies were made for the Long Tail—hmm, would Sanctuary be an example of this?—rather than the masses of folks who watch them in movie theatres!

Unfortunately, I found myself lost in Texas this past week as I journeyed to Mesquite, Tx. The rain was coming down so hard, visibility was cut down to 10-15 feet, which was terrible because everybody on that highway was travelling 60 miles per hour, at least. I ended up taking the wrong turn, and being throw off-course for about an hour.
So, since it’s my birthday this month (the big “40”), I’m treating myself to a GPS. I should have had one of these from the moment they came out, but…I couldn’t justify the expense with everything else. Some advice came to me from Kevin Jarrett, Robin Ellis and Kyle Stevens via Twitter.
