Challenging Assertions
Would you agree with assertions like these about students learning online? Do you know of any research that support/disproves these assertions?
- Engagement in Social networking isn’t really learning.
- Social networking develops short attention spans that actually inhibit learning.
- Students, like adults, have to go over material multiple times to gain the benefits of the information and ideas expressed.
- Twitter and other “blogging” sites teach our students to filter, meaning they will skip what does not offer them instant gratification.
