Updated September 2026

Education technology leader, curriculum and professional learning designer, writer, and educational software developer with more than 30 years of experience across K–12, higher education, and nonprofit education organizations.

My work spans instructional technology, Generative AI, digital curriculum and open educational resources, online learning, educational product development, data privacy, technology operations, and large-scale professional development.

My work focuses on a practical question: How can educators use technology, including Gen AI, in ways that improve teaching, learning, and professional practice without losing sight of privacy, evidence, accessibility, or human judgment?

Professional Appointments

  • Director of Professional Development, Texas Computer Education Association (TCEA) 2016–Present
  • Director of Technology Operations, East Central ISD 2012–2016
  • Director, Instructional Technology and Learning Services, San Antonio ISD 2002–2012
  • Project Director, PAVE, Northside ISD/Houston Baptist University 2001–2002
  • Campus and District Technology Roles 1994–2000

Professional Profile

At TCEA, I lead and contribute to professional development, online course development, conference programming, TechNotes publishing, Gen AI training, data privacy guidance, curriculum development, and digital product development.

Recent work includes development of TCEA Pocket Gopher LMS, DrawSplat.org, Sapiqo LMS,* and the mglearn.github.io collection of free classroom learning resources, and a growing portfolio of browser-based educational tools.

Curriculum projects include history and social studies investigations, Problem-Based Learning experiences, critical-thinking breakouts, science investigations, multilingual resources, printables, formative assessment tools, and professional learning materials.

I also develop educator-facing frameworks including ACE, VIBES, PROTECT, SHINE, and the Five Phases of District AI Adoption.

Much of this work follows the same pattern: identify a practical problem, turn the idea into something usable, test it, revise it, and publish a resource educators can adapt.

Professional Statement

I build practical systems that help educators use technology with judgment.

Sometimes that means designing a professional learning program or online course. Sometimes it means developing a history investigation, classroom routine, printable, or framework that helps a teacher see what students understand. Increasingly, it also means building the software itself.

My work with Sapiqo LMS, DrawSplat, mglearn.github.io, mguhlin.github.io, ACE, and other educational tools reflects the same approach I have taken throughout my career: understand the problem, build something useful, test it with people, and keep improving it.
