ACE the GAS Laws (Handdrawn)

View full-size graphic · Download infographic ·
A classroom investigation could therefore start with:
Challenge: Find three different ways to increase the pressure of the gas. For each method, identify what you changed, what you kept constant, and explain why the pressure increased.
Then move into ACE:
Articulate: Describe pressure in your own words using what you observed in the simulation.
Connect: Explain how changing temperature, volume, or particle number changes the frequency or force of particle collisions.
Extend: Predict what would happen if two variables changed at the same time. Test your prediction in the simulation.
That progression fits ACE particularly well because Articulate → Connect → Extend moves students from describing an observation, to explaining relationships, to applying the idea in a new situation.
