Random Acts of Citizen-Journalism
On the way to see Star Trek today, I saw a bumper stick: “Random Acts of AWESOME,” as opposed to the more familiar “Random Acts of Kindness.” Random acts of awesome may be a simplistic way of conceiving of citizen-journalism. However, if you’re not sure what’s involved, consider reading Huffington Post’s list of guidelines to convert blogger habits into citizen-journalism:
- Just the facts
- Avoiding hearsay
- Omit irrelevant opinion
- Plagiarism and giving credit
- Spelling and grammar
- Integrity of photographs
- Always identify yourself
- Identifying sources
- Fact-check your sources
